The tennis and swimming teams have a $5,000,000 price tag, but wrestling is $8,000,000. Why so much more. There aren't that many more that travel on the road, at least not $3M more.

I'll hazard a guess she saw how much was raised for Oregon and feared the amount could actually be raised.

ASU is in the title IX toilet and will still be in the toilet even after these cuts. The cuts afford ASU to "show progress" toward achieving Title IX compliance. That alone keeps the law suits for violation at bay.
