Once you watch it for a while, you pick up lots of the nuances of the game. It's a lot like wrestling in that way. To the novice, it doesn't look like there's any tactics at all, but eventually you start to see actual set plays and the way scoring chances get set up. You also see how teams differ in their approach. Sorta like hockey, it's much better in person than on TV. They tend to focus on the ball carrier too much on TV so you don't see the cutters and off the ball movement that's really the basis for most offensive schemes.
