Re: APR Penalities Some sports and some schools have a miserable record of student academic performance and graduation rates. This has to change. As I see it, colleges need to recruit students who can handle the academic work. If you can't, you shouldn't be a student at that institution. Making an cottage industry out of academic support for under-prepared student athletes isn't the answer either.
That basketball or football programs at certain schools get away with murder doesn't justify poor performance in other sports. If the current system of APRs doesn't solve the problem, then the NCAA should develop another that does. All I know is that a team where the ALL the students consistently perform acceptably won't have problems with any system that's proposed.
When the schools I've attended don't perform acceptably, I write the Athletic Director about it. |
