That's not really the point. McGovern is a long time friend and political ally of both of the Clinton's and had originally come out in support of Hillary. He actually called them and spoke with Bill at length before coming out publicly with his decision. Now, he's switched his endorsement. That sends a message to many of the other undeclared super delegates as well as to those who came out early in support of Hillary.
I have to laugh every time the Clinton campaign brings up Michigan. First off, there is no telling how that state would have gone had both Obama and Edwards campaigned and been on the ballot there. Second, the Michigan democratic party knew their results would be disallowed based on party rules and yet they still held the primary. It's obvious that many in that state understood what was going on by the 40%(237,762) who voted for "uncommitted" in the primary.
