How do these kids afford to go all around the country to wrestle every week ? What price will this single minded tunnel vision take on these kids 5 years down the road ?
I know Devon -my ex's daughter -confided to me she was sick to death of basketball and she's a 7th grader .
Any thoughts out there ? |
It's great that she is willing to spend all this time on her daughter, but it appears that the pendulum might have swung too far in the other direction. Kids need time to be kids, and shouldn't be doing extracurricular activities that they don't enjoy. The kid seems to be burning out and might not even want to paly when she gets to high school. Also, parents need to make time for themselves (and their significant others). If the kid loves it and the parents (or partners) can share the experience, it can really be great; but when it interferes with a well rounded life for all concerned, it has, in my opinion, taken on too much importance.
