2007 is “Midlands 45” – a special anniversary year. In anticipation of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the tournament will be honoring all Midlands competitors who have represented their countries in past Olympic Games. Those Olympians in attendance will be honored on the evening of Sunday December 30th prior to the final session.

The Midlands Tournament officials together with World Sport Chicago are working to promote the 2016 Chicago Olympic bid. A part of this effort is to bring many international sporting events to the Chicagoland area.

The Big Ten Network will be covering the “Midlands 45” and will air the event on December 30, 2007 for the finals with the semifinals on tape delay. Launched in August, 2007 by the Big Ten Conference, the network promotes a wide array of Big Ten sports and academic programming.
