You're probably not getting the stuff brewed in Pottsville. I was in Tampa and ordered a "lager" and it tasted much different. The "lager" in PA is from the real place. Chances are if you're getting it outside of the Keystone State, you're getting the "newer" breweries, like one brewed in Tampa.
Sometimes the lines have something to do with it, there's a place here in St. Paul where Leine's doesn't taste like it does down the street.
"Lager" is truly my favorite beer.
Add: Look what happened to Rolling Rock. No longer the same beer it was when brewed in Latrobe. Now the bottle says "St. Louis." It's an abomination.
